A slow, irregular swell, never twice the same. It keeps a long bed alive.
Shimmer
The octave above, grown inside the pad, so it stays in key.
Mix
Dry to wet, always in time with the track. Fully wet for a pad on its own track; 35 to 60 % to sit it under the track it comes from.

A low cut keeps the pad out of the way of the bass, a high cut takes the air off it. The track itself is never filtered. Drag the two handles on the graph.

Eight starting points, from a light blur behind the loop to a cloud far away. Save your own: they show up in VST3 and AU alike. Every knob learns a MIDI controller with a right-click.
What it is not
It erases the time of a sound and keeps its harmony. Nothing else.
Not a reverb
No room and no tail that decays. Stop the music and the pad swells a moment longer, then goes out on its own.
Not a delay
Nothing repeats. There is no echo and no rhythm of its own.

Nothing is held. When the chords change, the pad changes with them.

Under a track
The Wings preset, at 40 %: the pad sits under the mix and follows the chords. On a master it fills the space between the hits with the song's own harmony. A cinematic version of a cue in a minute.
In place of a track
Automate the knob up over the last bar and the drums dissolve into the chord. Bounce the first phrase for an intro that already knows the song, or the whole record for an ambient version.
Out of anything that hums
A guitar chord, a vocal line or a field recording at full knob with Shimmer becomes a held cloud, one octave wide, made of its own partials. On a send, it plays behind you live.
How it works
Nothing before the note, nothing left after.
The spread only goes forward: a note starts when it is played and its harmony blooms after it. Stop the music and the pad keeps rising for almost three seconds, then it goes out.
Separate
What rings on continues; what hits is let go. No attack comes through as an attack.
Keep the lines
The notes that stand out stay, the noise under them goes. It works the same on a quiet stem and on a loud master.
Spread
Each moment is smeared over the seconds that follow it, a reverb's convolution with no decay.

From 75 % a second stage spreads the result once more. At full knob only the persistent lines are left.

Questions
What people ask before they buy.
Why does the plug-in add latency, and how much?
The effect has to hear a moment of the track before it can spread it: around 300 ms, or 170 ms in Short mode. Your DAW compensates for it, so everything stays in time. For live playing, put it on a send and use Short.
What is held back in the demo?
Nothing but two seconds of silence at the end of every minute. Every control, preset and format works, for as long as you like.
How does activation work? Do I need an account?
No account and no internet needed. Open Settings (the logo), enter the email of your purchase and paste the key. Keep the key with your backups: it is your proof of purchase.
I lost my key.
Write to info@parallel-minds.studio from the email address of your order and we resend it, within two working days at most and usually much sooner.
Is a bounce identical from one run to the next?
Yes. With the same settings, two bounces of the same session are the same, Pulsation included.
On Windows 10, the Atavism window stays empty.
Your sound is not affected: only the window needs Microsoft WebView2, a free component that Windows 11 already includes and the installer adds when the computer is online. Without internet, download the "Evergreen Standalone Installer" (x64) from developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge/webview2 on any computer, run it on the studio machine, then reopen the Atavism window.
How do I uninstall?
macOS: run Uninstall Atavism.command in /Library/Documentation/Atavism. Windows: Settings → Apps → Atavism → Uninstall. Both keep your key and your presets, so a later reinstall finds the plug-in already activated; the macOS script offers to remove them too.
