Atavism is a spectral effect that preserves the harmony of a sound while removing its attack. Apply it to a track and turn one knob: the drums stop hitting, and the melodies and chords turn into a pad that stays in key. The pad accompanies the track through each melodic progression; at a mix level of 40%, the pad blends into the background, adding a harmonic layer. On the master bus, it fills the space between percussive hits with the track’s signature harmony. Useful for creating a cinematic soundscape derived from the track, an intro, or an ambient version of a finished track. It is designed for film and video game composers and music producers. Atavism runs in VST3, AU, and AAX on macOS; VST3 and AAX on Windows. No account or internet connection is required. Parallel Minds is a small independent studio based in Lyon, France, that develops audio plugins and apps for producers, composers, and sound designers. Its first tool, Reverie, transforms any sound into an evolving soundscape.
